My Week-Long

I tracked my media use for five days, and honestly… It’s a lot. Total screen time ranged from 12 hours and 30 minutes to almost 20 hours in a single day. Not surprising, but also a little shocking. Smartphones were the MVP of my week; social media, texts, and calls took up the bulk of my time, especially on Day 4 when I hit 11 hours and 50 minutes. Laptops and tablets got some love too, mostly for web browsing and news, but nothing compared to my phone.

TV and streaming? Minimal. A few movies here and there, a 15-minute Netflix check-in, but nothing consistent. Radio and music barely made a dent, and print media…well, let’s just say my newspapers and magazines are gathering dust. Even offline activities, shopping, “touching grass,” whatever you want to call it, averaged just an hour or two a day.

Tracking my media this closely made it obvious how reliant I am on digital content, especially my phone, and how little time I spend offline. It’s one thing to feel busy, but seeing the numbers laid out? That’s when it really hits. Time to find a balance, because as fun as scrolling is, the world outside my screen isn’t going anywhere.
